The Tradition of Excellence Continues

Most of our graduates are placed in advanced placement courses in high school and do extremely well academically.  About 85% of our graduates attend Catholic High Schools, while many others attend Wauwatosa East High School. 

Recent graduates include a Pius XI High School valedictorian and salutatorian, two Marquette High School National Merit Finalists and numerous National honor Society members. 

 Meet a few of our most recent outstanding graduates.

  • Sean Duffy (’00) presently a junior at Notre Dame and was a National Merit Scholarship Finalist.
  • Susan Earle (’99) graduated from Pius XI High School ranked seventh. She was a member of the National Honor Society and was elected class president. She currently attends Boston College.
  • JoJo Hoffmann (’00) was elected Senior Class President at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School. She plays high school rugby and earned a spot on the United States National Rugby Team.
  • Njoki Kamuiru (’99) is attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was named the first ever Minority Student Liason at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School. Her sister Wambui Kamuiru (’97) now attends the University of Missouri at Columnia. Both had distinguished academic records at DSHA.
  • Brendan Kearney (’93), son of St. Sebastian teacher Judi Kearney was a national merit finalist. He went on to school at McAllister College where he was the captain of the soccer team.
  • Liz McElwee (’96) was named to the Dean’s List at Xavier University. Presently serving at a Jesuit Mission in Cleveland, Ohio
  • Mark Mitton-Fry (’88) was valedictorian of Marquette University High School (’92), attended Carlton College in Northfield, MN majoring in Organic Chemistry and graduated magna cum laude. In 2002 Mark received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
  • Steve Persch (’99) was named valedictorian of Pius XI High School and attends Northwestern University.

Distinguished Alumni Award

The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes the significant achievements of a talented and committed group of individuals. They are individuals who have made significant contributions to new insights, fostering original ideas and searching for added knowledge.

2006 Charles Swain (’40). A graduate who continues to live the mission of St. Sebastian and believes strongly in the value of “good solid educational foundation”
2005 Robert Doucette (‘37) – Robert Doucette is grandfather of present St. Sebastian students, past president of Milwwaukee Insurance and long time supporter of St. Sebastian Parish.
2004 Dolores Knoernschild (’44) - A parishioner who continues to serve her Catholic mission through daily service to the
St. Sebastian community.
2003 Sue Bentfield Olson (’75) – A Red Cross volunteer who organized our school “Noon Nurse” program. Served as two-time Home & School chairperson. Originated our NCEA award-winning Lunch Bunch program.
2002 Maureen Stingl Kostelnik (’69) – Long-time volunteer librarian in our school library and Market Day chairperson.
2001 Tom Barrett (’68) – Mayor of Milwaukee, WI. Former member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
2000 Ginney Haas Pauly (’72) – Long-time active parishioner, cantor, character education leader, retreat leader, school play volunteer
1999 Paul Murphy – son of longtime office aide Evelyn Murphy, Paul is a former West Allis Alderman and now serves as Municipal Judge.
1998 Christy Miller Dombrowski – member of delegation to Teosinte, St. Sebastian sister community in El Salvador.
