St. Sebastian Hot Lunch Program Information
School lunch is an important part of the student’s day. The Food Service Department (FSD) is proud in the role it plays in providing students with appealing and nutritious lunches that are well balanced and meet the nutritional guidelines of the National School Lunch Program. Our commitment is to provide quality, nutritionally-balanced and appealing menu selections to our customers. Healthy eating patterns are essential for students to achieve their full academic potential, physical and mental growth and lifelong health and well-being. The USDA meal patterns require five components in order to qualify for a reimbursable meal:
- A Meat/Protein, Fruit, Vegetable, Bread and Milk must be offered in specific quantities.
- The meal patterns are designed to provide 1/3 of the RDA’s four key nutrients.
- The menu must also provide 30% of total calories from fat and no more than 10% from saturated fat over the course of a week.
- Students who need a substitution for milk can replace it with juice if a doctor’s note and allergy form is on file.
Meal Payments and Prices
This year’s lunch prices reflect the increase in costs the FSD has incurred for food & supplies, and utility usage and reflect what other District 12 schools are charging.

- Make a payment into your child’s account by sending a check (or cash) in an envelope with the student’s name and grade written on it.
- Checks are payable to “St. Sebastian Lunch.”
- Classroom teachers collect the payments and send them to the cafeteria for deposit.
- Our automated lunch payment system will record payments and monitor food transactions. It functions as a debit system deducting each transaction from the student’s account. It is not necessary to write separate checks for families with more than one student. The FSD will distribute the funds into each sibling’s account.
- The FSD will notify parents of negative balances through their email address or negative balance notices will go home via kid mail.
- A la carte items are not included with lunch and are charged accordingly.
- Parents should discuss purchasing guidelines with their children in advance to prevent unwanted charges to their account.
- Parents wishing to block certain purchases can contact the FSD at (414) 453-6850 or email msasich@saintsebs.org .
