St. Sebastian Gallery Night

Join us for an evening showcasing the wonderful artistic and musical talents of all of our St. Sebastian students.  Partipate in a guest group art project, enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres and wine (the only cost, at $2 per glass), and witness the evolution of our student work.  Kids are invited to participate in craft activities and an artwork scavenger hunt!  Need a new piece of artwork to spruce up your home or office?  Bid at the silent auction tables on art created by local artists, or buy designated kid-made, hang-ready pieces that have been donated by students in an effort to help raise money for Brittany, one of our two Milwaukee Coutnty Zoo elephants.  All funds raised from the silent auction will go toward future Gallery Night events.

DONATE YOUR WORK!  We are looking for talented alumni, parents of current and former students and parishioners from St. Sebastian who will kindly donate any artwork that YOU have created for the Silent Auction.

St. Sebastians’s Annual Sports Award Night has been scheduled for March 27th!

Our school’s basketball and volleyball teammates of grades 5-8, cheerleaders, coaches and parents, will be recognized for sportsmanship, teamwork and achievement in true RAIDER SPIRIT!

• We Remember – In 1909, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, under the direction of Bishop Sebastian Messmer, purchased five acres of land on Milwaukee’s west side. With few paved streets, most of the area west of 52nd street was open prairie all the way to the village of Wauwatosa.  In 1911, Father Francis Kleser established the new parish – St. Sebastian – named in honor of the Archbishop.  A few months later, the first Mass was celebrated at the 55th and Vliet storefront, currently known as The Wonderbar.

• We Celebrate – In 2011, St. Sebastian Parish developed a variety of liturgical, social and outreach activities.   The entire parish family – past, present and future – helped celebrate how far we have come throughout this century and set an example for the next 100 years.

• We Believe – In remembering the Paschal mystery and the call to committed discipleship, our centennial journey was carried out in the spirit of the life and death of Jesus Christ, celebrating the risen Lord, and believing that he will come again in glory.

A contract was signed in December with Botti Architectural Studies and Restoric, LLC to complete this work. The project is expected to cost $260,000. Work began before Christmas and our beloved windows will return before Pentecost.

The windows project was to be funded as part of our Faith in Our Future campaign we undertook beginning July 1, 2008. Please consider contributing to this project to help us restore these beautiful windows. Please contact Joann Perleberg, jperleberg@saintsebs.org for more information.
