Sacramental Prep & RCIA/RCIC

First Eucharist & First Reconciliation

First Reconciliation preparation and celebration is in 2nd grade.
First Eucharist preparation and celebration is in 2nd grade.

The program of preparation for each of these sacraments is a community and family effort - catechists, parents and other staff members are involved in preparing the children. There are parent meetings and a child and parents retreat for each of these sacraments. If your child(ren) is older than the normal age in which preparation for these sacraments takes place, please contact Joan Plumley, Director of Faith Formation (453-7150), to make special arrangements for preparation.

Baptisms

Baptisms - To begin the process for baptizing your child, please call Julia Galligan or Mary Cox in the parish office (453-1061).

Marriage

Marriage - Weddings are scheduled for parishioners who have been registered for at least three months. A marriage preparation period beginning no later than 6 months before the wedding is also required. Contact Julia Galligan or Mary Cox.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC)

The RCIC is the process through which children who have reached the age of reason, but have not been baptized, or who have been baptized in another Christian faith tradition, are initiated into the Church. “For the celebrations proper to this form of Christian initiation, it is advantageous, as circumstances allow, to form a group of several children who are in the same situation, in order that by example they may help one another in their progress as catechumens.” (RCIC No. 255) This group is intergenerational and includes parents and grandparents. Call Joan Plumley, the Director of Faith Formation (453-7150) if you would like your child to be initiated into the Catholic Church.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is for adults interested in becoming Catholic, who are either from another faith tradition or those who have not been baptized and formed in a faith tradition. Participants are invited to share their journey of faith during weekly sessions starting in fall and culminating in the celebration of the sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil. Sessions are held Sunday mornings, 9:00 AM-10:15 AM. Contact Fr. Dick Aiken (453-1061 x112) for more information.
